The Director General of the Department of Intellectual Property (DoIP), Ministry of Economic Affairs exchanged the MoU on creating an Enabling Environment to Strengthen Business Competitiveness through Brands and Designs (EIE) project to the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), Geneva on 09 October, 2019.
The MoU between the DoIP, MoEA and the WIPO is a project to empower the national stakeholders to increase their business competitiveness through the effective use of the IP system such as Trademarks, brands and designs.
Some of the expected results of the project are:
Analysis of development requirements of local businesses based on their current or potential use of IP tools for branding and designs;
Identification of domestic products with potential for branding;
Enhanced capacity of selected domestic stakeholders to use IP for business competitiveness.
The project would assist in the niche markets by enhancing their competitive edge through branding and design strategies.
