First Better Business Council Meeting.


The Ministry of Economic Affairs organized the First Better Business Council (BBC) Meeting of the High Level Business Council at Thimphu Ariya hotel on 22 April, 2015. The event was chaired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister who is also the Chairperson of the High Level Business Council.
The meeting was held to deliberate and recommend on the set up of the council secretariat, roles of the secretariat, structure of the BBC and way forward for the BBC.

PPP Stakeholder Workshop


The Ministry of Economic Affairs in collaboration with the World Bank organized a Public Private Partnership (PPP) stakeholder workshop at Thimphu Taj Tashi on 8th April, 2015. The event was graced by the Hon’ble Secretary, Ministry of Finance.

The objective of the workshop was to create awareness about the provisions of the draft PPP policy as well as educate key stakeholders. The policy was recently reviewed by the Gross National Happiness Commission and has been approved for onward submission to the Cabinet.

Seminar on Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) Dam


More than fifty officials, mostly engineers from Department of Hydropower & Power Systems (DHPS), Punatsangchhu Hydroelectric Project Authority (PHPA), Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Project Authority (MHPA), Druk Green Power Corporation, Bhutan Power Corporation (BPC) and National Environment Commission (NEC) attended a half day seminar on Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) Dam at Namgay Heritage, Thimphu on April 2, 2015.

Construction of Punatsangchhu-II Dam begins


 The PM installed the sa-chu-bum-ter to signal the laying of the dam foundation
PHPA II: Calling it a milestone achievement for Punatsangchu hydroelectric project authority II (PHPA II), the project will start constructing the dam with the foundation laying ceremony conducted yesterday.
